Course Description

OVERVIEW

The Diploma in Management programme is offered to school leavers interested in pursuing a career in organisational management and administration. This programme will equip students with the skills and knowledge required in management as well as expose them to basic aspects of organisational management including management, marketing, finance, management information systems, human resource management and strategy implementation. Curriculum, course content, academic standards and course evaluation are specifically designed to enable students to gain and develop the skills and knowledge relevant for a career in management.

By the end of this programme, students should be able to:

• Understand basic principles of management
• Apply various types of management skills needed to function at an optimum level
• Demonstrate reasoning, critical and creative thinking, and analytical skills
• Understand and apply decision making tools in modern management at the operational level
• Apply management principles in public and private sectors

CAREER AND ACADEMIC PATHWAY

The graduates of this programme will be able to obtain positions such as Assistant Administrative Officers at government departments and statutory bodies subject to the prescribed conditions of the public service. The graduates will also be qualified to hold various posts in the private sector.

Graduates of the Diploma in Management programme will have the opportunity to further their studies to a Bachelor Degree in related fields at local universities.
