Formerly known as HELP College of Arts and Technology (HELP CAT),
Imperium International College successfully completed the takeover of
HELP CAT and resumed operations in March 2020.
Our journey first began in 1993 when HELP International College of
Technology (HICT) was set up in Klang to address the increase in demand
for tertiary education amongst the community there. As the economy
started progressing towards Kuala Lumpur, and most of the population
moving to the capital, it was only wise for HICT to relocate to the city
centre. In May 2011, HELP College of Arts and Technology (HELPCAT) was
established as a city college in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, replacing
HICT. With the campus being located at Fraser Business Park, Sungai
Besi, the location enabled students to enjoy the benefits of urban
living and provide access to excellent facilities and services. The city
Light Rail Transit (LRT) which is situated only a 3-minute walk away
connects Kuala Lumpur to the suburban areas like Subang Jaya, Petaling
Jaya, Kelana Jaya, Cheras, Sentul and Gombak. Imperium’s strategic location at Fraser Business Park, Sungai Besi
enables students to enjoy the benefits of living and learning in
metropolitan of Kuala Lumpur with access to top academic and
professional expertise as well as excellent facilities with a link
bridge to the city’s Light Rail Transit (LRT) network that connects the
college (Chan Sow Lin LRT station) to the greater KL. A purpose-designed campus, HELP CAT offered a wide range of
innovative academic, professional and vocational programmes for
students. The quality of education offered to students was proven to be
world-class when the Malaysian Education Ministry rated HELPCAT 5 stars
(excellent) for its student quality, resources, quality management
system, and programme of graduate recognition. Throughout the years, the college has built and maintain top-rated
partners including the University of London, UK and the Normandy
Business School, France to provide more options for academic and career
development. The college was also awarded the Platinum Accredited
Learning Partner by internationally renowned Association of Chartered
Certified Accountants (ACCA) and has since maintain its status. Fast forward to March 2020, MAA Group Berhad successfully completed
the takeover of HELP CAT and resumed operations as Imperium
International College. This was also to ensure that as the new official
entity, Imperium achieves one of its key strategic objectives to provide
the best quality education and skill for a wide range of students while
giving back to the community. While there was a new management in place, the academic workforce
remained the same, as they had proven track records of producing high
quality graduates as well as global prize winners. To date, Imperium has
approximately 80 academicians and a majority of them have been with the
college close to a decade. Imperium International College has partnered with United Kingdom’s
Anglia Ruskin University and United States’ Fort Hays State University.
to provide bachelor’s programmes across Accounting, Business, Computer
Science and Engineering. Students who wish to pursue these programmes can progress seamlessly
from Imperium’s home-grown Foundation and Diploma programmes, which are
accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), a statutory
body in Malaysia set up under the Malaysian Qualifications Act 2007 to
accredit academic programs provided by educational institutions
providing higher education and facilitate the accreditation and
articulation of qualifications.
Imperium also offers vocational programmes such as the Diploma
in Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Tourism as well as certificate
programmes for languages such as English and Spanish. The Spanish
programme offered in Imperium is in partnership with The Instituto
Cervantes, the official Spanish Government Centre.
With the mission to provide the best quality education and skills for
a wide range of students, Imperium is also working hand in hand with
The Budimas Charitable Organisation in providing scholarships to
deserving students. Imperium has also given out approximately RM2
million in scholarship to high achievers, sports scholars and many
others since taking over.
Most recently, the college also introduced two new initiatives that
redefined student’s tertiary education experience. They are the Imperium
Interview Opportunity Programme and the Study Now Pay Later financial
aid.
The former guarantees graduates who meet specified criteria that they
will receive an interview placement opportunity with an organisation
that is related to their area of study. This is a joint initiative
between Imperium International College & MAA Group Bhd to create
opportunities and provide a career jumpstart for our graduates.
Imperium’s Study Now Pay Later financial aid provides a 100% study
loan for students who are looking to pursue ACCA or ACCA Foundation in
Accounting. This financial aid, which is only open to Malaysian
students, will not only give students a head start towards a career in
professional accountancy, but also provide them with a peace of mind
thanks to its stretched out 7-year repayment plan that is 100% interest
free throughout the course period.
As a tertiary education provider, Imperium International College is
committed to ensuring that our students can access high quality
education and the best employment opportunities across all sectors.
Imperium International College is now owned by MAA Group as the company
puts focus on expanding its education business. MAA Group also owns St
John’s International School and Pusat Tuisyen Kasturi under its
subsidiary, Edumaax Sdn Bhd.
Imperium International College has been named the recipient of the
Most Valuable Brand – Education – Tertiary, Professional and
Vocational under the prestigious BrandLaureate Awards that recognises
and rewards innovation, inspiration and integrity.
